Pretty sure the decedents' families don't have two nickels to rub together.

The family then goes on to say that while their boy was a known drug user, he likely only robbed the store so he could get money to pay his child support.

    Oh, that's better then...
OIC. It was his illegitimate kids fault. I guess he didn't want to be a deadbeat dad....ooops.

I look at a family's response as a tell. Same as a poker tell.....Good boys shot dead in armed robbery means they were splitting the take with mom and dad.

Actually mommy wants to split the drugs he buys with the money.

Oh, come on now. They were good boys! After all, he was only committing a felony to be a good father and pay his child support!

Since he was trying to take care of his kids it's ok. Do over. Let him get up and try again.

    Between corn and soybean fields.
Were they both robbing the store to pay their individual child support, or were they pooling their loot together so one father could send money to his child or was only one robbing to better his childs future while the other was robbing for his own greed?

    We need answers!

I understand how the parents/family think they were good kids. Everyone thinks their kids are good kids. What I don't understand is how they can blame the bystander for shooting them. You point a weapon at someone, or even pretend like you have one and will use it... it should be common knowledge that it's just a slight bit possible someone will associate that act as a threat and will respond to it as such.

counter (or even better, pre-suing) is not about getting the benjamines from the family. It is to make them feel enough pain that they back off forever.

The ONLY reason they are suing the shooter is because some scum bag lawyer has promised them he would do the job for free. There is no cost to them because they are going to split an anticipated payday from the citizen.

However, suing them forces them to now go out and get a lawyer at their cost... no more freebies. As you noted, they don't have the money anyway... and when confronted by the fact that they must now shell out money because of their actions it becomes easy to force them into a settlement that forever shuts down the payday they expected.

does indiana have a similar law preventing suit against a justifiable defensive shooter? if not, perhaps this should be brought up to our legislature?

not that this one seems to be helping much at this point.

"He was never a bad person." Really? I'm pretty sure he was a bad person the night he "allegedly" committed armed robbery and "allegedly" pointed his gun at another citizen.

It was declared a justified shooting. I seriously doubt that it will go far in civil court. For one, who's going to sue... both robbers were of legal age. Secondly, there is no law against making a citizens arrest that I know of. Their are however laws that say you can protect yourself, especially if someone is pointing a gun at you. Not to mention the video and witnesses.

The parents are the lowest of the scum out there. First, they raise thugs with zero moral values. Then, when these thugs try to rob someone and get killed, they see it as a possible payday for themselves. Everything about them is despicable. They think that robbing to pay child support is an acceptable excuse. How about getting a job and supporting your kid yourself instead of strong arming someone else into supporting your kid for you? We live among scum.

If you have ever watched the show "The 1st 48" every one of the people that put themselves in a bad situation (as 90% of them do) have at least 1 if not multiple baby mommas and the deceased is not 20 years old yet. These woman and kids are on the Gov. teet and the men are running amok on the streets buying/selling/doing drugs. The family's lament how great a dad he was and a good person yet he had drug dealers on his cell phone. He had the door kicked in and was shot multiple times because he had drugs and cash in the crib. Lifestyle choices. The parents are aware and condone this as they get something out of it.
Of course not every situation is this but the majority are.
