Wait until RK requires you to do the Hokie Pokie as you leave the store, don't laugh, it may be closer than you think
Personally I hate the case rule. I hate telling people they need one. Then I hate listening to the complain about it lol. Trust me as much as people dislike the rule the people that work there dislike it even more.
And again THIS IS NOT STORE OR COMPANY POLICY! It is the ATF requiring this! Don't like this? I don't either but all this over a 16.00 case max cost on a long gun case? Bring in your own or shop at another Rural King not in a school zone or pay more for your gun from some where else.
You all have a great day I give up on this thread.
That's the same policy at the Dunham's in Crawfordsville. They are within 1000 ft of a school.
Question.................How did they get the Zoning to put a gun counter in that store.
Question.................How did they not know the laws involved.
At that very store, the Clerk Accused me of being from Illinois and he needed to see my FOID Card before I could see a hand gun in the case. I Informed him that I Never have been accused of being from Illinois and that I was Insulted.
He Apologized But I didn't Buy a gun there. RK is Headquartered in Illinois and they seem to base their store policies on Illinois law
Their house their rules. Don't buy a gun there issue solved. Or bring a case or even better yet buy a case then return it.
I work the gun counter part time basically just to help people make good choices and help educate people. Also fill in at another gun shop and work at a gun range besides my full time job. From my understanding the atf agent basically said they would suggest all Guns leave in a locked hard case. So Rural King decided to fallow that suggestion. Kinda of like the should/shall thing with Osha. Personally I hate the case rule. I hate telling people they need one. Then I hate listening to the complain about it lol. Trust me as much as people dislike the rule the people that work there dislike it even more.
No such bull crap in Kokomo. A manager just escorts you to the door with the purchase of said weapon & asks you to put it in the vehicle if you intend to do more shopping. No fuss / no muss and Maple Crest school is within plain view behind Kroger. Oh the humbleness of a big retailer doing legitimate business!!!
1. The stores were already in place before they started selling firearms. So not moving because atf says locked cases are required on gun sales
2. Gun sales are a multi million dollar income for the company, but they are not going to up and relocate to get around an atf requirement.

I'd be more scared of the crotch finger infested popcorn
Policy or not, law or not, true customer service would be to have a case & a lock that the customer could USE to walk out to the car with. There's no need for the customer to buy a case then return it, right then or 2 days later.
Why do these stores not just pull a case off the shelf, write it off for store use along with a small lock, put the customers gun inside it and walk them out. They get to the car, the customer opens the case and removes their box and hands it all to the employee and drives away.
So what would you do when I take my case in there, put up with your shenanigans then when it becomes mine promptly take it out of the case and carry it out? Lifetime ban? Somebody gonna try and mug me for my property?
Firearm goes in the case. Case gets locked. Then is carried out the door and handed to customer. Again Please call the atf and rural king headquarters. Whoever gets this stupid policy changed I'll personaly shake your hand and buy your lunch for a week lol. Until that time bring a case or you'll have to buy one in order to receive your firearm. That's the bottom line.
Just out of curiosity, what is to stop me from:
#1) Buying the gun;
#2) Buying the case;
#3) Walking the gun in the case out to my car;
#4) Removing said gun from said case and storing said gun in my personal vehicle;
#5) Walking back into RK with empty case;
#6) Demanding refund for case on the spot?
Failure to give refund means I leave the case on the clerks F*****g counter, calling my Master Card/Visa in front of him/her, and challenging the charge of $X for the case and the taxes on said case?
Just curious how far they would be willing to throw down when WE are willing to throw down?
IF they want to get pi**y and say something like, "We're calling the cops or ATF or whatever" and we say, "Go for it! I am on private property with a LTCH in Indiana. What are they going to do? Arrest me for bad breath?"
Partial sarcasm but mostly serious question. I changed my mind and I don't want the case. Give me my refund. NOW.
Regards and Merry Christmas,
Doug
EDIT: I am not suggesting that I would be rude, obnoxious or stinky about it. I would be polite, smile, not raise my voice BUT STILL remain firm and entrenched that I want my refund NOW. Not every confrontation has to have rough edges, nor should they.
FOID card? I am not familiar with this acronym.
