In short, I was asked to rework a broken hammer spur for a friend. The spur was broken a few years ago someone managed to drop this little beauty right onto the spur, at which point it naturally shattered, leaving a jagged spur. S&W service let me know that they could not replace a hammer from 1960 and before, and Numrich did not have a replacement either, so a rework was in order.
I managed to file the spur and sand it to look as though it had a factory edge, and then did a small spot of Case Hardening to give it the original look, like the rest of the hammer and trigger... I think it came out top notch! I will now call this a Carry Spur. Who knows, maybe it'll catch on.
Let me know what you think.
