Im all for a path to citizenship, so long as that path includes, rudimentary education (GED minimum), learning english and civil service.
The same requirements should be imposed on current citizens. I can't understand some folks from Louisiana.

People want to claim their opposition to amnesty isn't about voter suppression or politics but it was just put into text above.

I think it would be ideal in the major immigration cities to have small immigration conclaves or subdivisions, the children get free education, the families get free rent, the parents learn english and a trade, They work to improve our infrastructure and earn a wage that is not minimum wage $7.80+ an hour, and in 6 months or so they all stand before the stripes and with lady liberty as their witness they take the oath of citizenship..
By the end of the time they will have at least a high school education, be experienced and knowledgable in a profession or trade, have a small savings amount built up and be ready to be assimilated into the great melting pot that is America.
...and hand each one an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo on their way back to fix their country.
I think Eric Holder was one step ahead of you on that one.
And famously regretted it calling it one of the worst decisions he made as president.
Ed Meese Says Reagan Regretted 1986 Amnesty | VDARE.com
As I have no doubt anything that happens with Dear Leader in office will be horrific and Republicans will race to betray us the best possible option seems to be to keep the issue on the burner and hope that somehow it will be dealt with by adults. And by adults I mean: secure the border and turn off the financial magnet through E-verify or some such.
If you think amnesty is a good idea just say so. I for one, with a lot of years experience working in kitchens all over the country with many, many illegals feel confident it would be a death knell for this nation.
You never heard of Ronald Reagan have you?
He signed off on one of the most insane amnesty programs ever devised, don't act like this is new ground.
I wasnt, i just dont like the idea of rewarding people for breaking the law
This is like saying it's too late to close the barn door because half the horses have ran off.
The problem is they arent closing the barn door, they are letting the rest "escape"
Like social insecurity, this isn't an issue that will be pleasant to deal with, but at some point, it's going to happen. One way or another.
Would you rather it be addressed now, with some say in how it's done, or later by an E.O. from dear leader and friends just in time for the 2016 election?
Considering the ones who come here illegally get free health care, free basic education and reduced college tuition, housing benefits, food benefits, drivers license (in many states), and other perks, giving them citizenship is only one more handout courtesy of the United States taxpayers.
What? No backrubs? Fine European Chocolates? I think that's the least they deserve for breaking into this country. What are you a bigot? And maybe we can be more like Britain and give them million dollar mansion. I'd hate to see them have anything but the best on our tax dollar, right?
I say deport them all and hand each one an AR-15 and 5,000 rounds of ammo on their way back to fix their country.
I'm pretty sure immigrants have always had a 'path to citizenship.' Am I missing something or is a word missing?
On a side note .... will giving these illegals citizenship stop them from sending millions of dollars back to their home countries or will they continue to do so?
Why would they, when (as a new citizen) they can bring all of their family up here? So the 15-20 million new US citizens may become 50 million. It might be easier just to annex Mexico.
In retrospect we should have just kept it after the Spanish American war. MAkes you wonder if we'd have all these problems today...
