“After” getting cut loose w/o getting a ticket, it is a nice gesture to say “thank you for your service”

Eh, I don't say that. I have thanked an officer for not writing a ticket though. And told them and the ones that have written me one to have a nice day, and actually meant it in both. If I deserve a ticket, I deserve a ticket. I'm not going to hold it against an officer for what I did.
