I happened to have Friday off, so decided to catch the rare movie. While this may not have been the worst movie ever made, it's certainly the worst movie in recent memory.

Do yourselves a favor and save your money for a box of ammo. Wait til it's on Netflix, then never watch it.

Under 50% for an audience rating at Rottentomatoes.com, so yeah, definitely don't spend coin on watching it in a theatre. The wife and I'll probably watch it when it comes to Netflix, just for the special effects.

Agreed. Avoid this one at all costs. I saw a 10pm screening and midway through the showing, the power went off in the theater. I was grateful for the power outage, as it gave me a reason to go home early. The people watching The Conjuring II seemed a bit rattled by the theater going completely dark. They were kind enough to give everyone free passes to another show.

The SFX are on par with any cheesy USA network sci-fi flick.

I thought the first one was dumb, so it is interesting to hear that this one is probably even worse. The whole premise of these movies is a liberal wet dream. A united world against an alien force. No human enemies, we're all just a big blue ball of friends fighting against evil aliens. The next one will have us all unite into 1 big Socialist world government in a utopian society where Christianity has been stomped out for good, and we've negotiated with the aliens and give them money, making them now our friends.

I'd love to see Mystery Science Theater 3000 make a return and do a couple episodes with these movies.

Actually, the liberals' dream is when the humans are the evil force. Example: "Avatar" or pretty much anything where the cancer that is humanity is "destroying the planet."

As pulp sci-fi flick it works. If you liked the first you'll like it, probably... Just try not to think about it too much. I felt old afterwards, seemed like the cast members that weren't holdovers from the old movie were just out of diapers.

One review commented that when the original came out, Earth looked a lot like the actual Earth. It was recognizable. It was familiar. There was a connection.

Since then, we've seen all sorts of monuments destroyed in TVs and movies. And now, the Earth in the sequel doesn't really look much like our current Earth. So, this is just another aliens-invade-foreign-planet type story.

And the holdovers were just about to get into them

Aw c'mon, it wasn't THAT bad! Somewhat predictable yes, and the all knowing orb came of as somewhat ditzy, and Doctor Okun seemed a little. . . .uh. . .looser than in the original but HEY the freakin' aliens were inside his head. And who can't love a blatant plug for ID3 to ID Infinity??

Yes, it was that bad. It was so bad, Plan 9 From Outer Space got envious. It was so bad, atheists started believing in God, just so they can call down hell fire and damnation and smite thy evil movie. It was so bad, it spawned a new "It was so bad..." meme, coming to a social media outlet near you.

I was expecting Dr. Okun to look at the orb and say "Siri (Lexa, OK Google), how can we defeat the alien invasion?

I agree that overall it was disappointing. It bothered me how the ship picked up Shanghai and dropped it on London. The implication and statement was the ship was so large, 3,000 mi in diameter, that it had its own gravitational field. Well, everything does. But its field would still be a fraction of that of earth's field so it would not be ripping crap off the surface.
