Not to Denny up the thread, but the keel weight on these ships is just about the size of a diesel sub. They do have maneuvering engines, but the design is very fast....faster than current freighters.
The fastest sailboat in the world has no sails. It's about 105 feet long, and has a rotating cylinder that's 10 feet in diameter and 40 feet tall. The cylinder rotates about 80 rpm and presents more surface area to the wind than any amount of conventional sails they could rig on a vessel that size.
