    Where I grew up in south Texas, half the farm pick up trucks in the high school parking lot had a shotgun and a .22 hanging in the back glass, if not a .30-30 as well. Everyone had a huge Buck knife hanging off thier belt, too.
    No one got into a fight and went for a gun to solve things or even pulled out a blade.

    There was plenty of violence, but it was not created by the presence of a few guns for most folk.

    ... and yes, we had a UIL (basically the same as IHSAA, here) sponsored rifle team that you had to be pretty damn good to join.

    I haven't changed much, but some other stuff DID!
