One small quibble. Socialism was kind of like CommunismLite, perhaps in an attempt to make it more palatable. The Socialist distinction was always said to be that the means of production were to be controlled by the workers, more like the union owns and runs the plant for the good of all workers.

We know that in practice that became a distinction without a difference, because some workers are always more equal than others
I’m talking in terms of what is, not what’s intended. When we’re talking about the relationship between the people and the government, as both systems are implemented, nazism looks a lot like socialism except for the nationalist part. I think it’s fair to say that practically, economically, Fascism is a sort of right wing implementation of socialism, plus a few extra things.

Oh, I definitely agree. Recall that BugI's law is that all human endeavor reduces to pack dynamics; that sooner or later someone always wants to be the big dog

Having known Socialists in polite society during my formative years, they always made much of the distinction - as if that somehow made up for all the deficiencies of the idea

So you're saying that secret, coded speech and dog whistles are sometimes less compatible with Occam's razor? Who knew (all of us)
Didn’t need to purple that. The most likely thing a thing is about is usually explained by the context. But some people like to make things about more than they’re about to confirm existing beliefs.

This is a double edged sword. It sometimes denies you your own delicious righteous indignation. For example, people on the right wanted to believe Obama was buying up ammo as a defacto gun control. How delicious is that? Confirms every evil we want to believe about him. Except it wasn’t true.

My boy, sarcasm always has a target

FYI, I still haven't seen a satisfactory explanation for why the gov't under Obama felt it needed several billion rounds of ammunition (and all small arms, at that)

Why are the feds loading up on so much ammo?

According to one estimate, just since last spring DHS has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm. That's sufficient firepower to shoot every American about five times. Including illegal immigrants.
To provide some perspective, experts estimate that at the peak of the Iraq war American troops were firing around 5.5 million rounds per month. At that rate, DHS is armed now for a 24-year Iraq war.

    Could be anywhere
Fascism: authoritarian nationalism, typified by a dictator, that controls industry and commerce
Socialism: the community, typified by the government, controls industry and commerce

'Tis a fine line, but neither is really relevant to today's US political parties anyway.
