Someone at work asked me what it was like being on a sub.
So I told him I was surrounded by metal painted gray/green/white, didn't see the sun, and was surrounded by a bunch of dudes. The bathrooms were disgusting, pretty much so was the rest of the place.
Then I looked around, and figured out I really didn't change my work description too much.
Last year at ABJ VA clinic they changed over to electronic kiosks for check in. I walked up to the open kiosk and began to check in and a lady walked up to me and told me that that kiosk was reserved for female veterans. There were no female veterans there to check in. The lady is a volunteer, there to help those not familiar with the check in procedure.
I almost told her that I identified as a woman, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I had to step back and wait for one of the men to finish and watch the empty kiosk go unused. They have since changed the policy to first come first served.
