Those opposing it were using an argument that statements made by Donald Trump on the campaign trail showed his intent to ban Muslims. That does not enter into any decision on the executive order itself, which must only be judged on the merit of what it says. Applying this logic, all nine justices on the SCOTUS should have upheld it. It is a clear demonstration that the four liberal justices are activist judges, meaning that they intend to write law from the bench rather than do their job of determining constitutionality.
Conservative SCOTUS justices rule based on what our Constitution says. Liberal justices rule on what they WISH it said.
