I own two of these guns. My wife loves shooting my second and calls it hers Great guns buying more mags. All semi-auto pistols work better with HV rounds. This pistol is not easiest to tear down and assembly but is not horrible.

Had two. Never any problems. Very accurate as well. Southern Ohio Guns has them for $99 plus shipping and fee.

I've had one for a few years. I has been reliable and accurate. I shot about 3,000 rounds with most of it HV and the slide cracked. I called Phoenix and they asked me to send the slide to them. I got a new slide back in exactly a week from the time I mailed the old one in. They also included a pack of 3 recoil springs. When it broke and before I called Phoenix, I bought a Ruger 22/45 Mark III target. I like the Ruger more and it is more accurate but it was twice the price of the HP-22. I now have 2- 22 semi-autos in addition to my Rough Rider revolver. The HP-22 was my first and cheapest 22 I bought and it has been a good choice.

+1 on the broken slide. Mine did the same thing.

    I have had 3 HP22a's.
Out of the three, I only had trouble out of one of them.
    It would not extract rounds.
I called Phoenix and tried to get an extractor from them and fix it myself, but they wanted to do the work so I sent it in to them and they sent it right back to me whole again.
After I got it back it was fine.

Then I bought one, used, that had a broken retainer clip (holds the end of the main spring).
I called Phoenix, and as others have said, they sent me the part right away and for free.
I put it together and it ran fine.
I am not even afraid to buy a broken HP22a because I am pretty sure I can get it running.

Out of the 3 I sold one, traded one, and kept one.
I suppose I will always keep that last one.
It has the hard chrome finish, it's crazy accurate for me, and it doesn't have any feed or function issues.

    Word of note here though.
Having had three of these, and having talked to Phoenix on the phone more than once:
I can tell you, they are adamant that the HP22a is designed for standard velocity ammo.
    No stingers. No high velocity.
I use standard velocity ammo in mine, well, cause I want it to keep working as good as it does now.

I haven't read all of the thread. I will give my opinion, take it or leave it.

I am a pretty good shot with a handgun.

I had one with a 2" and a 4" barrel, with the 2" I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I thought the 4" would be better. I was wrong.

I bought it for 160 and sold it for 100.

If others have had better luck, good.

What kind of gun did you have? The HP-22 has a 3" barrel and a 5" barrel. I find them both accurate and almost as accurate as my Ruger Mark III target at 11 yards.
