There's a newer section on the North side of the lake, and it's still pretty nice.I lived up by simonton but that was 35 years ago.
Similar to what's happening here, but people are just moving farther south. A good deal of the southside here has seen a huge influx of Chin (from Myanmar) immigrants, but the main criminal element is flowing down from the city to the south. The lovely folks from the South side, began migrating to the North side, to avoid the element moving into the South side.
Now that element has infiltrated the whole area.

Elkhart used to be loaded with musical instrument factories.I have a guitar case that was made in Elkhart. Oddly enough, I bought it when I was in Australia to ship home a guitar I bought down there!
That's also what I was thinking and I'm racking my brain but can't quite get it. It's right on the tip of my tongue (or fingers, I guess). Not just Conn either.

Heard of Elkhart all my life; never knew where it was, for a long time.
