Those of you who were paying attention in 1996 probably remember the republican congress coming to an agreement with President Clinton to re-write the welfare code so that things like: Stayed in bed, went to beach, stayed at home with the kids...didn't count as "Work" perse. Now the Obama administration under the HHS department has issued notices to the states that they can apply for a waiver for the work requirement of this change.

Essentially, Obama just ratcheted up the class warfare part of this election season two-fold. People will be demanding their free Obama money and whay are those evil conservatives saying that they can't have it...

50% of the population pay for the govn't bennies of the other 50%. It's an attempt to climb those number of gov't depends even higher to guarantee people voting for the hand that feeds them.

TANF was specifically witten so that waivers could not be attained for them and that it would take an act of congress to rewrite the HHS code for the rules.

"When half the population realizes that the other half will pay for them that is the beginning of the end of that civilization". Can`t remember where i got that quote but it is a good one. These people, these leaches, have full voting rights and,in a lot of cases, below average intelligence and above average laziness. The dems know this and will do anything to keep them fat and happy in handouts to secure thier vote and,in effect, the destruction of everything we love in nthis country.

I blame the Washington Republicans for this. We all know how big of a criminal organization Obama and Company are and stuff like this should come as no surprise. As a matter of fact, it is becoming expected. These people are thugs and bullies, and until someone stands up to them, calls them out and gets down in the dirt with them, this stuff WILL. NOT. END. Boehner/McConnell should both get the boot this afternoon (they were heads of the House and Senate while the banks/Wall Street were/are plundering America and it's future generations) and replaced ASAP. What our Congress is allowing this administration to do is as/more criminal than what the administration is actually doing! :xmad::xmad::xmad:

This reminds me of the David Weber's Honor Harrington book series. One of the star system governments had a wonderful setup. It was essentially the US. But then it went all socialist and it turned from "Haven" to "The People's Republic of Haven" and it started going all warmonger on surrounding territories in order to hide economic problems, blames others for internal pressures, and gobble down foreign economies as loot to feet an evergrowing population of those living on the dole (called Doles, go fig...)

And it took a major butt whooping on them and a couple revolutions to start walking back to it's fundamental roots and get away from gov't sanctioned dependency.

I'm kind of a student on the history of Cuba. It's a beautiful place with a beautiful culture and people.

It's a real shame that over half the population will not lift a finger because they've learned that doing anything above the very minimum will not get them anything more than what they are already getting.

Why bother? It's been this way for a couple generations - they wont turn it around.

    Pre-Clinton days?

Before the "end of welfare as we know it"

Meaning back when someone could have 15 kids at home, get tax credit for them as if they were working. When as long as the person had a heartbeat and could breathe, then they could qualifiy for gov money
