I splurged on a Kenmore Elite, and it had about 4394 settings, and died within 4-5 years. Next time I bought the cheapest, most basic Frigidaire, and I am very happy with it. It has two settings-- regular and extra. That's all I need. I'm not washing crystal or the top shelf only, or any of the other 4392 settings. I just need my dishes clean.

Kitchenaid - was somewhere in the $900-1200 range. Nice unit. Handle ends look like 12g shotgun shells.

I have always heard Bosch was good. I bought one for my Mother years ago... Still holding up. I wash by hand, so I don't have first hand experience.

Nasons in CP buy the cheapest one they have and a warranty. Like said above… all the settings are just more to go wrong and break sooner.

Dishwashing (by hand) is my least favorite chore of all chores. And a waste of time, I load the dishwasher turn it on when I go to bed. Until an apocalypse I will have a dishwasher.
