I just got home from Bingo at about 9:50. Dogs and I hunkered down in the bathroom with the door closed uneil 10:15 (no basement).

It looks and sounds pretty bad out.

Looks like it blew past here. Godalmighty winds.

Of course, blew the power out for a few minutes.
I thought about running for the bathtub.

Powers back on, and now the thunder started.

Why the bathtub?

Unless you reinforce a spot, a basement is a spot the house falls in, and becomes your grave.
You need a section reinforced with 4x4s.
Or.. a small basement. Don't go under the whole house.

Well, I don't have one anyway, so the safest place is my bathroom. It's a small, central room in the house that is not on an outside wall.

bathtub is a safer place in a ground floor with no shelter.
beams fall across the tub, tub protects you.

I'd like one of those manufactured shelters.

Didn't seem like much tonight.

We got much worse last night and yesterday morning.

Well, the storm past over South Bend. Got some wicked winds for a few seconds, but it seems like the storm split in half when it reached our area and we snuck right through the hole. North got hit bad. South got hit, but was pretty clear other than that. Of course me and my stepdad in true Midwesterner fashion were outside almost the entire time. Had the night vision out scanning the clouds.

Everybody OK? Power? No power? I haven't driven around, but I heard south Crown Point got beat up pretty bad. Nothing serious in my neighborhood (which is in south Crown Point).

Well we missed the storms at home. Hopefully animals are all ok. but still caught them in Fishers, kids are doing the state trap shoot today!
