What:
Intro to carbine/pistol shooting.
Where:
Sand Burr Gun Ranch
Rochester, IN
Seen here: http://www.sandburrgunranch.com/
When:
November 3, 2012. 0800-1700 Chicago Time
Cost:
$30
Goals:
Bring the combination of 3 instructors experience in classes, competition, and military to INGO. This is for those that can't afford expensive classes, have no time for them, or simply haven't shot or trained in a while.
Requirements:
Rifle: Modern semi automatic, magazine fed, carbine type rifle.
Pistol: Anything you would trust your life to and shoot all day.
Gear:
At least three mags. More is better, it means less loading throughout the day.
Any tac gear is fine, be ready to use it.
Brimmed hat.
Clothes that fit the weather. We will shoot in the rain if it comes to that.
Sack lunch. We will be doing lunch with Q&A on the range.
Plenty of water/gatorade.
Good attitude.
Sling for rifle.
Holster for a handgun.
Eye and ear protection.
Change of socks if it's raining.
At least 300 rounds for both rifle and pistol. We may not use that much, but you won't want to sit out of drills because you ran out of ammo.
Q&A:
1. What is my money going towards?
Your entry fee to the range. This is being treated as a group going to shoot at this range, which costs $10 per shooter. Also, the cost of paper, stands, and steel.
2. What can I expect?
Build on your current skills to make a more proficent shooter.
3. What is expected of me?
A good attitude and a zeroed rifle. Most shooting will be done from 10-50 yards.
4. Is this a "do it my way" class?
NO. This class is going to try to pool everyone's experience together and use them in drills. We will stay on track, but by all means, no one is a stickler on how something has to be done. There are instructors but they are there to maintain safety, offer advice where needed, and be that extra set of eyes.
5. I don't have a carbine/pistol, can I still attend?
Yes. Send me a PM and you can use one of my rifles/pistols. You are responsible for the ammo. Other attendees have offered their tools up as well. This will be delt with on a case by case basis.
6. Can I bring my .308 battle rifle?
Yes. The range will allow m1a, HK 91, CETME, FAL, or any other .308 that you're willing to carry all day.
7. Can I run my drop leg holster?
Yes.
8. Can I run my cross draw/shoulder holster?
No. This puts other shooters at risk.
9. How about lunch?
We will eat lunch on the range. Bring whatever you are willing to eat without the benefits of a microwave.
10. Can I shoot my ss109 green tip ammo?
No. It isn't safe to shoot at steel.
11. Should I pre-load my mags?
No. We will get more benefit with down loaded mags. Each drill will have a different round count.
Space left for more Q&A.
More info:
The class will take up to 15 students. Some spots are reserved for my current training group. If they back out, more spots will open up. There will be 3 instructors no matter how many students. Less students mean we get to shoot more.
The class can/will be SAFELY tailored to the skill level of all shooters. I want everyone's skill levels to be pushed, but SAFELY.
This class will emphasize accuracy and speed, in that order. Drills can include moving and shooting however, all abilities will be taken into consideration.
Class needs:
A way to hang steel targets
[STRIKE]
Thin pieces of wood to staple cardboard targets (Think 5 feet long by 2 inches wide by 1/4 inch thick)
[/STRIKE]Staple gun
