Called ATF yesterday my 6 months from first pending was Sept. 11th and I was curious. The lady on the phone told me it went into problem status on the 13th(same day I called) and now I have to wait for them to send a letter to my LGS so we can find what is wrong now. Geez had paperwork come back for corrections end of July and now this. The wait is killing me and now this. Thanks for listening I just needed to vent a little.

What was your first pending date? :)

Never mind, I went back and looked. Based off your dates, mine should be here any time!

Well here's hoping you get yours soon. I just hope that the letter shows up at my LGS this week so we can find out whats wrong cause the sooner we fix that the sooner that stamp will be in my hand.

I called the ATF yesterday hoping to get details about my form 4 going into problem status on Friday the 13th. I spoke to a guy named Jason(didn't catch his last name and they have several examiners named Jason). He asked about the length of the barrel on my SBR I guess they thought it had changed(It hadn't). After talking with him he told me that Nicole would be in on Wednesday and he would talk with her about this and it looks like I may be approved on Friday. So I sit here with fingers, toes, and legs crossed hoping it all ends soon. With any luck I will have my SBR in time for NFA day.

They say it is 30 days from approval to the time you receive your stamp but it appears to not take that long.

It's been a good NFA weekend! I was afraid that they were going to get stuck waiting on this whole shutdown thing. I will update this tomorrow with my first and second pending dates.

I believe I am an unfortunate victim of the shutdown. If it weren't for it I should have had my stamp already. I called them 10/23 (for the first time since April) to check status and was told the following: " We have undergone a re-evaluation and current wait time is 15 months". I asked if that affected me and would it now be springtime before I saw my stamp and he said "it might be sooner than that". Ouch. I can't see how it would affect me as I should have been at the bitter end of my wait. Sounds like a load of garbage to me. I hope.

Hang in there, I went pending the same day as you, and I also called last week. I wasnt told 15 months, I was told 90 days from my second pending date, which was going to be the next day. I dont see the shutdown effecting us other than everything being 2-3 weeks later, and while 15 months may be the supposed wait for new applicants, they also cant possibly know that. That is a LONG time. If it really is starting to get longer than 10-12 months, we need to start hounding our Congress Critters to get new examiners.

Thanks for the support. I've developed patience during this period and my previous submission for a suppressor. The frustration begins, though, when you've been patient and then another stretch of waiting gets thrown in your face! Curious, you mention a second pending date. Is this something you were given when you called last week for status? I don't know of any but the one original in April.

Its something that they sometimes say, sometimes not. The admin of NFATracker explained it to me as being the date it supposedly has been put into the examiner's queue. The people answering the phone have told me that it should be 90 days from that second pending date. They dont always give me the second pending status, sometimes they say my original pending date. Not sure what is going on over there.

This is a great thread. I have one transfer out there myself, and frankly have not called to confirm pending date for fear of getting pissed off when I ask then next question as to when it will be approved, I know myself better! My check cleared June 10th, sigh. This will be my 9th over about 10 years. Need to buy more!

I know I am not here often, but all NFA owners really need to hound our Congress critters if the waits are pushing towards 15 months. Already posted comments on ATF 41P and made direct comments to our Congress critters. This issue is next for me, and I will have to hear it for myself as to wait times, so I can share that directly with them. Wonder if we insisted that ATF does not get paid until approving the form, what might happen? What if we asked our congress critters to have anyone explain why it takes so long, when all of us can buy firearms tonight, and that with a federal government approved background check. I would speculate that the answer to be something along the lines, we are doing a more extensive background check on NFA, to which I would ask, Are you saying you are not doing a complete background check on Title I transfers now, thus should we be afraid?
