the answer is yes, no, maybe, who knows they will change their minds again anyway. You are NOT going to comply your way through this. So, can I just buy a 16" upper and swap it out with the 8" upper? If so, should I switch the brace to a stock?
I just hope they don't do something stupid, like change their mind about what constitutes pinning and welding a muzzle device onto a 14.5 barrel.
I never made the pistol brace plunge, but I did buy a premade 14.5 BCM upper with a pinned and welded extended A2 hider.
So, can I just buy a 16" upper and swap it out with the 8" upper? If so, should I switch the brace to a stock?
Not that we have seen…Has the clock started on the 120 days?
Has the clock started on the 120 days?
Why purple? They made the 120 day rule they can change it when they want as they have demonstrated repeatedlyKnowing ATF it probably started 80 days ago.
This is why I believe in evil incarnate. Stupidity compounded by ineptitude piled upon by misunderstanding and confusion.So... we are basically in a spot where:
Since a brace doesn't make a pistol more dangerous to the public, 'Public Safety' is not the motive. Since the Fed's are refusing to enforce the law in numerous other areas, 'Sense of Duty' isn't the motive.
- People thought they were complying with the law. They thought this because the Gov't told them so.
- Now the Gov't is telling them that they are committing a felony, and can go to jail or be financially ruined.
- People are scared that "The Man" will come for them in the middle of the night if they don't comply.
- People are scared that if they DO comply, "The Man" will come for them in the middle of the night.
- Peoples fear is not unreasonable, and based on the past behavior of the ATF, FBI, and so on.
- Confusion multiplies fear beyond the reasonable levels.
Seems to me that the outcome is a bunch of scared, confused, people with guns. Seems like the observed outcome is most likely to be the intended outcome.
I just hope they all keep their muzzles pointed in the proper direction while this gets sorted out.
Correct. It’s only a rule when it’s literally on the books. So if it's not published to the Federal Register, no one can bring a lawsuit?
And with it pending, very few are buying / selling / trading them while a select few are registering them.
Am I understanding this correctly? If so, why the hell would they publish it to the Federal Register?
They are usurping our rights, evidenced by the lack of buying, selling, and trading, without even publishing it. We all know the goal is to disrupt gun ownership and they are doing just that without publishing it. The question in the post you quoted was asking why they would ever publish it if they can achieve some of the results they desire without those pesky lawsuits and court rulings…Correct. It’s only a rule when it’s literally on the books.
I suspect they have asked them to defer publishing until the website is updated and ready to accept the “free” stamps.
