Something fishy was going on and I'm just courous about how or why he picked my add, from Indiana, to try to get shipped to NY

Because if it crosses state lines doesn't the penalty become more severe?

Probably didn't pick your ad so much as contact a bajillion people. I'd guess the FFL may not be an actual FFL and he'll end up asking you to use a special shipper and blah-blah-blah typical internet scam.

As far as NY's SAFE act, can they punish an out of state seller?

Is it our duty to hold their citizens in check?
