Looks like you may have a good thing worked out on the engraving. There have been several great options thrown out in regards to benchmade and spyderco. I like them both but find I EDC a benchmade more often. The benchmade axis lock is smooth as can be. Since you don't sound dead set on a fixed blade I would go the folder route. I only suggest this as you will probably find it more usable for your friends and they would be more inclined to carry the knife.

That would be awesome. Are there certain metals or finishes that work better or are not compatible?

Anything but a high titanium blade. I have done my 154CM and D2 on my Benchmades with no problem, as well as a couple of my buddies 14C28N on their Kershaws.

We were testing titanium plates in their one day and we caught the titanium on fire so no titanium :nono:

I did this already for a couple from Bloomington a couple of years ago. They used the Army KaBar since all the grooms men and the groom all served together in the Army. They all turned out very nice. There were 9 of them.
Shoot me a PM if I can help you.;)
    Congrats on getting married.:D

I did a simular thing for mine. I went to Case and had custom knives made for my dad father in law and my brother. Awesome when they were finished.
