    Henry is a good choice. I have hunted deer with both lever actions in .357 and .44,I prefer the .44 for deer hunting. But both calibers would also serve your dual purpose of hunting / home defense well. Good luck.

    Depends on your usage and needs but I love Henry rifles. They are great shooters and are beautiful as well! My favorites are .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum. Oh yea and .22 and .17HMR Henry's if you want a varmint gun/plinker!

    The henry x in .357 is an absolute blast. One of my favorite rifles. If I had room I'd get into reloading just to feed it.
    I agree whoheartedly on the Henry's! Obviously there are also other great choices out there like Marlin or Winchester lever actions.
