I'm putting together a group buy on level IV standalone Silicon Carbide Polyethylene body armor plates. You may be familiar with Alumina (Ceramic) Level IV plates, but these are the latest technology and are almost half the weight. The carbide strike face is backed with a Dynema Polyethylene woven section that reduces weight and make the plates neutrally buoyant. The plates each weigh 5.2lbs compared to 9lbs for the alumina. These have single curve geometry and measure 12x10". Our testing shows compliance to NIJ Level IV protection based on rear face deformation. A plate has been sent to an NIJ certified lab for testing and passed to Level IV resistance. I will upload the letter when obtained. The supplier is a manufacture for the Chinese military. We are looking to import 25 sets but want to secure buyers first.
Our first sample batch was tested, by us, at the Atlanta Conservation Club. We will subject the next incoming lot to the same tests to verify quality. The results are below:
All shots fired at 20yards:
1st shot: 30-06 Black Tip, Steel Core (fired from Savage Bolt Action)
2nd Shot: 308 (Silver Bear steel jacketed)
3rd Shot: 556 Green Tip
4th Shot: 7.62x39 Tula Steel Jacketed
All shots were stopped by the plate. Images are below and video links will be uploaded shortly!
