Wow incredibly dumb of the car theif.

The dog surprised me the most he didn't tear into him.

He appears to be holding a handgun pointed directly at the officers. Multiple deputies open fire, and Woods quickly drops to his knees, evidently having been shot several times. Behind him on the tile floor is the gun, a small revolver. Deputies eventually drag him out onto the floor and cut off his clothes to begin giving first aid. When an ambulance crew arrived, they pronounced Woods dead at the scene.

911 call indicating that a subject had brandished a gun at the complainant.

Officer Skenandore did observe both the complainant’s vehicle and the red vehicle operated by Ventura. Officer Skenandore conducted a U-turn, crossing over the median and began following the vehicles. Officer Skenandore followed the two vehicles as they turned left onto Green Ridge Drive. At that point, the complainant’s vehicle pulled over to the side of the road and allowed Officer Skenandore to go past him. Officer Skenandore noted that the red vehicle, driven by Ventura, continued at a slow rate of speed and came to a stop in the middle of the road on Green Ridge Drive. Ventura then exited the vehicle and produced a black handgun and pointed it at Officer Skenandore. Officer Skenandore then ducked and drew his own duty handgun.

The male complainant later gave a statement to law enforcement indicating that a man, later identified as 40-year-old Steve Ventura, had exited a red vehicle and pointed a gun at the complainant. The complainant observed Ventura turn around and get back in the red vehicle. The complainant then called 911 and advised dispatch about what happened. The complainant then followed the red vehicle and remained on the call with dispatch. He then observed a Green Bay Police Department patrol vehicle, which was driven by Officer Daniel Skenandore. The complainant waved to the officer and flashed his high beams in order to get the officer’s attention.

Shortly after other officers arrived on scene, they heard screams from a woman later determined to be Ventura’s girlfriend, who lived at the residence immediately to the west of where Ventura’s vehicle was stopped in the street. As officers approached the residence, Ventura was observed on the ground in the front yard of his girlfriend’s residence with an apparent gunshot wound to his head. Several officers heard Ventura’s girlfriend state that Ventura had shot himself in the head. Ventura was later transported to St. Vincent Hospital where he was pronounced deceased not long after arrival. Physical evidence recovered from the scene suggests that Ventura discharged his handgun at least three (3) times. Officer Skenandore discharged a total of eighteen (18) rounds from his duty handgun, and at least seven (7) rounds from his duty rifle.

I wanted to post this to show how fast a person can bring a firearm up from their side.
I think if you can slow it down this guy could have put a shot on the officer maybe two before the officer responded. I maybe wrong but it looks that way. Especially from that side view.

Do you think this was a suicide by cop instead of going back to prison?
    Replica gun.

The officer gave several commands to Gardner to comply. Gardner continued to be uncooperative and continued to tell the officer he had a gun and would shoot the officer. Gardner then advanced toward the officer quickly raising his right arm with a replica firearm in his hand. The officer fired his service weapon and struck Gardner several times. Gardner was immediately provided medical attention by assisting officers and emergency medical services. He was transported to Arroyo Grande Community Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Gardner, who has an extensive criminal history in multiple states, was unhoused and traveling through California. At the time of the shooting, Gardner had warrants for his arrest in the states of Kansas and Texas.

Yeah. Even with the officer already drawn and on target, He still had a REALLY good chance of getting shot had it been a real gun. Low ready or hand on holstered gun like these liberal crackpots expect? He'd be dead.

I used to demonstrate this concept to the new recruits. I'd have 2 recruits standing, facing each other. One would be the "bad guy" and the other, the "police officer". The officer would have his "finger gun" up and pointed at the bad guy. The bad guy would have his finger gun down at his side. The officer would "fire" his finger gun as soon as he saw the bad guy lift his up, but the bad guy was still trying to fire his finger gun. By "firing" they would say "Bang". Time after time, the bad guy would ALWAYS raise their gun and fire it BEFORE the officer had a chance to fire theirs. Action beats reaction and it's a scary thought.

Watching and listening to the video I agree it was suicide by cop.

When he says that he has a real gun that is an indicator to me.

No way would I have expected the officer to act any differently tho. Just because he says it doesn't mean anything until after the fact.

This guy was just acting like nothing wrong. Digging around in his bag for a gun for a long time. I shouldn't be surprised, but every time I see shootings it happens so fast, and many times unexpected.

Briones proceeded to retrieve a stolen handgun from inside his duffel bag and fired at the officers. Briones fled, running away from the officers, while continuing to shoot multiple rounds at them. At least one officer returned fire and struck Briones. Briones ran down the hall and around a corner, then briefly reemerged before jumping through a plate glass window. Briones jumped out of the third floor hallway window to the ground, outside of the hotel. Officers broadcasted a request for assistance and arriving officers located Briones hiding outside of an adjacent property. Briones was taken into custody at approximately 10:53 p.m..
Responding officers provided medical aid to Briones and to the injured officers, while they awaited medical personnel. One officer was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries, he was treated and later released from the hospital. The second officer was transported to a local hospital with major life-threatening injuries. Briones was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Briones' loaded, stolen firearm was recovered from the scene. Officers contacted the female guest and her children, ages 8, 10 and 15 hiding in the hotel room. The female guest is a survivor of a recent domestic violence attack at the hands of Briones.
Officers learned that Briones had an arrest warrant for that domestic violence incident. Briones has an extensive criminal history with convictions that prohibit him from owning Firearms. Briones was on active felony probation out of Santa Clara County and had two felony warrants for his arrest, at the time of the incident.

    This happened fast.
    Indianapolis PD.
When officer Flick stepped onto the porch, Qualls was sitting in a chair and holding a gun in his right hand. Qualls raised the gun and pointed it at officer Flick. Officer Flick discharged his service weapon followed by officer Buck. The Firearm slid across the patio floor. Officers waited for additional assistance before approaching Qualls.
As officer #3 approached the home, Qualls' firearm was visible on the patio stairs. The preliminary investigation indicates damage to the magazine was caused by a round from one of the officers. The impact caused Qualls to lose possession of the firearm which then landed on the stairs. Officers secured Qualls and began medical aid until the arrival of Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services. Qualls was transported to Methodist Hospital where he later died. No officers or uninvolved citizens were injured in this incident.

Looks good to me. Barrel was tipped up at the first officer before he got shot.

I didn't know Robocop worked for IMPD.

As funny as his casual looking attitude was, he was kind of slow on the uptake and gave that guy plenty of time to engage him first.

This is why we need mental institution’s back. Some of the wackos out there can be treated. IMO we are swamped with untreated mentally ill.

Also so good cops don’t have to kill them.

It’s hard on a normal person to drop the hammer on another.
