I know, I know, I don't have a pic. But has anyone here ever seen one of these beasts? My brother and I came across one a while back so he just had to have it. It isn't the Police it is the full barreled goose getter.

For those who don't know it is the first semi-auto 10ga shotgun, in his configuration it weighs in at 11.75 lbs! That is unloaded. It shoots the 3.5" shells with 1 in the pipe and 2 in the mag. ( The massive recoil system took up the rest of the magazine. )

It isn't what I would call 'common' so I thought I would just put out a feeler for those with experience with the thing. Thanks in advance.

One of my mom's cousins who hunted waterfowl at grandpa's house had a Remmy SP-10, which Remington made under a license from Ithaca.

He was a great big man so a giant, 12lb shotgun looked normal on him.

He'd always get made fun of though because my grandpa always came home with more birds, shooting a 20ga 870 Wingmaster.

I remember when The Roadblocker was introduced, wasn't a big seller to LE, and it faded away.

The Ithaca Roadblocker came out around the same time women police officers were being put out on in the field....Elmer Keith opined that is the reason the 41 magnum didn't take off...San Francisco was to adopt the 41 magnum at the same time they were allowing women police officers on the street in San Francisco....as illustrated in this clip with Clint Eastwood....

I wonder if this is what the DEI inspired hiring process at the USSS looked like.;)

With 10 gauge its time to MAN UP, and go for the 000 or 0000 buck.
Destroy the target and your shoulder at the same time.

It seems to me there was one of the guntuber channels that had a light single barrel break action 10 gauge with a 18.5 inch barrel. Called it thumper..

The skinny guy in the video looked like he handled the recoil better than the other two!

To properly introduce my brother I should say he is 6'4" and a retired mechanic. He can pretty much break whatever he can get his arms around.

He bought an outlaw 12ga shotgun with a 5' barrel and shot it off hand and has a collection of .50cal and .460cal pistols that look normal in his hands.

He is not a newcomer to the 10ga as he already has a 10ga Browning BPS loaded for trouble as his home protection piece.

He is a mystery to behold...

I have an SP-10 that I bought new in 98. It is the same gun, Remington bought the patent and made it. I love it. Super reliable and great in the field. So far I am on all the original parts. I prefer a 10 gauge to a 3-1/2" 12 gauge. Everyone says they are just as good, they are not. I would have bought the Ithica as it is blued and had nicer wood, but I couldn't find one with removable chokes so I bought the Remington.

I bought my brother some 10ga ammo that shoots 2oz of shot at 1500fps with strict instruction to not shoot it unless I am there...
My younger brother lives outside of Leadville, CO and 25 years ago I sent him a super grade mod 70 Winchester in 338 win mag and a box of ammo that I shot two out of.
About 3 weeks later the gun was sitting on my porch and when I opened it up the ammo box was missing a total of 4 rds and a note that said FY and this gun.
