I heard about it so I decided to watch it on TV. I was expecting some kind of rig for it to slide down with lots of lights or something. It was just a car hanging from a cable. Yep, kinda lame.

I too, was concerned that the thing was swaying. Its neat that Indy is trying to do something. I think the ball drop in NY is lame too. I thought it actually fell and crashed before I watched the first time years ago.

Is the Indy Car drop any more lame than the Ball Drop in NY?

Yes. It is a copy cat thing and it is very weak.

I went with the GF, and GF's dad, but we turned around because they had ESG Security patting people down for weapons and other items. We went into the Tilted Kilt next door for a while before heading home. Didn't realize this public event would be subject to a pat-down.

Can't ever be too safe with indycars hanging precariously over your head and all

And there's that... I didn't get close, but when we were headed south on Pennsylvania St to the next left turn we could see the Indy car hanging in the air swinging back and forth. Made me uneasy.

Honestly, the jack mount on the rears of those cars are probably the strongest thing on them. It's all the crane and cable that that point.
Still... someone might have accounted for the wind
