I listen to Amos's show, because he does have some topics I like. The problem I see for this country, about 50% want to go one way, and the other 50% want to go another. After hearing all the socialist/progressives/liberals/"I want more of other people's money" folks calling into his show, I don't see how this country will survive. There is just too many folks who want government to bail them out and someone else to pay for it. It is kinda sad knowing our country will mimic what we have seen in Greece and France over the last six months.

A caution for those considering checking their property value by MLS or real estate agent. I read somewhere (maybe it was lewrockwell.com) that since the real estate collapse of the past couple years, there has been common among real estate agents to place into the MLS system a higher sale price for the home than what it was actually sold for. I would suggest checking with a government office (county clerk?) for records of sales prices, to confirm if you are getting accurate info from MLS.

I just got this tax comparison statement in the mail from Lake County today. It states property tax cap $1319.00 then adjustment to tax cap due to voter-approved projects and charges $408.20:xmad: for a $1727.20 total. I guess that must be the new school they just finished building about a mile outside of Lowell that I don't remember ever voting on. So inspite of the 1% tax cap amendment I will still need KY and grab my ankles.

Oh and one other thing on my mind. Why in the hell did they build a school outside of town so every kid going there has to ride the bus or get a ride?

    The amount does not matter

It does not matter if you have 1¢ or 1 % assessment .
If you are unable to pay it ... some one like this will come from the Sheriff’s department with a Tax Warrant and take your property ..
So I ask you ... Who is the real master here ?
    You or the Government ?
Do you really own anything with a property tax assessment in place ?

    Thanks
    Duncan
