We wouldn't turn anyone away that we know and trust in a time like that.
You shouldn't feel like you're imposing on someone if you need
to stay due to an emergency.
Especially if you're helping out in some way if needed.
You cannot feed the masses unless you agree to go hungry. There is only so much you can store.
You can't turn everyone away either without creating problems.
If I know AND trust someone, they'll have a place here whether there's enough food or not.
You can turn people away without problems, if you are not advertising that you have anything. There are a couple reasons why I'm working on a hidden room. First is so that friends and family don't comment or freak about any large amount of ammo I decide to store (which I consider an investment similar to purchasing silver or gold, as it is only going up in price). Or about any food storage I decide to participate in.
While I do not see it to be likely, I could see a situation where not only does the government take what you have, but persecute you as a "hoarder". Although it would be an incorrect use of the word, being that you stored the food away before there was any shortage. The hungry masses will not care what is correct and vilify you anyway.
Above all, I hope any precautions I currently take will look like serious over kill ten years from now.
I agree. To me, trust is more important than skills. A stranger that is a great shot and very experienced with firearms, might just decide to take it all after eliminating you.
If something happens like katrina(maybe say, a real earthquake this time), my family and i will be waiting for the national gaurd and blackwater to take all the guns again.
they can have all the ammo they want.at about 3200 fps.
