Numerous hummers at both feeders and flowers here in the Fort since the first one appeared 5/1. Even had a few of the usual hummer fights! Only problem is the sugar water gets cloudy quickly due to the high temps we’ve had lately.
Ours is city water and the normal 1:4 sugar to water ratio.must is something in your water....ours never get cloudy we are on a well....are you mixing 1 cup of sugar to 1 quart (32oz) of water??
The ONLY “type” you will see in Indiana is the Ruby Throated HummingbirdWe've had a few at our feeder in Granger. First noticed them over the weekend. They've been coming back. Not sure of the type. Crazy to watch them "hover".
Ditto on the cannas and hostas. They also LOVE red bee balmThey are now on my hosta flowers and the feeder many times a day.
I have only seen two at the same time. So maybe just a pair coming back and back.
when the Cannas bulbs flower with the giant red trumpets we will have many come to them.
they are not hitting out feeders like in the past years, but they are on the flowers all over the yardFew and far between. I changed types of feeders as the bees had taken over the "Perky Pets" brand. We will see if they like the new feeders..
