I am patiently awaiting the transfer of a SBR. How are you guys getting your pending or approved dates and your examiner name? What number are you dialing and what info do they need to look it up, name and SS#?

    Thanks in advance,

June 3, 2009: Called the BATFE at (304) 616-4500. I spoke with a live person. There were no voice prompts. When answering the phone, all she said was "NFA. Can I help you?" I said I was calling to inquire about the status of a Form 4. She asked me the serial number and then my name, and told me it went pending in their system on 5/6/09. From what I've seen of other members' applications, the time from pending to approval seems to be in the 3-6 week range, with some occasionally much longer. Since it's been about 4 weeks since I went pending, hopefully mine will be approved soon!

When I called on mine, I think they wanted my name & SN of item. They were helpful, professional & friendly when I talked to them.

I see you're from Lafayette. Welcome to the club. Who did the transfer for you? Did you have the sheriff sign the form?

Chock that up as a lesson learned huh... ;)

Yes sir, I don't plan on calling though. It makes life a little more fun knowing that the fine folks at 21st Century Firearms will just randomly call me someday when I least expect it and tell me to come get my can outta their shop. :):

    alfahornet,

Thanks for the welcome. I had Stan at Applied Ballistics do the transfer, he really makes the whole process pretty foolproof. Yes I had the sheriff sign the forms, very quick and painless. I have posted my submission times in the NFA time line forum if anyone is interested. So far it seems to be moving along pretty quickly.
