    Normally only squirrel hunt with rifles, but picked up this 1907 J P Sauer 16 gauge and thanks to a very generous member here came up with some 2.5" ammo. Plan on trying for a fall turkey but decided to break it in early.

    Excellent! There is nothing like hunting small game and particularly upland birds with an old trusted 16ga shotgun.

    I have not hunted with a double hammer gun, but my first squirrel hunt with my Dad was when I was 10 at my Uncle's farm. He brought his .22 rifle and borrowed the 16ga Winchester 97, "hammer gun" from my Uncle that usually was kept behind the kitchen door. It was a bit temperamental to cycle, but I did manage to bring down a fat fox squirrel with it.
