What is it about gun shop owners and their employees that makes them entirely unsuited for any sort of customer service activities?
All I want to do is buy a simple Smith & Wesson M&P .40 cal normal pistol. This should be the easiest thing in Indiana to pull off. Here is my experience:
BudsGunShop online will sell it to me for $459, but it has to be tran
Don's Guns on the west side will sell it to me for $699. (Cause ol'Don doesn't wanna make any money he just wants to overcharge people for guns.) Their customer service guy got upset with me because I thought the price was a little high.
Indy Trading Post is so nice over the phone. They won't accept my FFL transfer from BudsGunShop, but they'll sell me the gun for $499. It's not in stock so they have to order it. I've left my name and phone number with the same clerk 3 times. He gets the price right each time and he takes my name and phone number each time, but the manager that he says will call me back never does.
PopGuns had some kind of issue going on when I entered the store. The gentleman in front of me somehow irritated the store clerks by filling out incorrect information on his background check form. They sold him the gun anyway but the clerk was really acting upset. Their price was a reasonable $539, but at 7 PM sharp, they shut down their computers and escorted me to the door. The clerk wasted 20 min of my time waiting for him to deal with his previous customer and then another 10 minutes trying to explain to me that the only defensive weapon on the planet is a shotgun.
Indy Gun Safety says on their website that they'll do the transfer from BudsGunShop for $35. They won't return phone calls or emails and their shop is only open for 4 hours on Sundays (allegedly). I've tried multiple times to contact them. They're just not interested.
Any thoughts? At this point, I'm looking for a reliable gun shop in town. Everyone is disqualified until proven otherwise.
