Ummm, guns don't just explode in the hand as you are preparing to shoot them. The story makes it sound like he was just holding it and it exploded???

Probably a squib round in the barrel and he was stupid enough to pull the trigger again. Or maybe it's just an exploding Glock????

1. Guns of all kinds blow up. Is gun, is not safe.

2. Cops don't always arrest, especially on juvenile, but that does not mean that he will not be prosecuted. AND, he is reported to be 17, so waiver to adult court could be an issue.

3. Criminal Recklessness is fact sensitive so maybe cops just shrugged, took report and turned it over to detectives or the Prosecuting Attorney.

4. Juveniles have an addition step in an investigative report by Juvenile Probation. They bring the kid in and talk to the family (if any) and sometimes recommend informal adjustment or no prosecution.

I wish there was better reporting on this. Makes it sound like the gun just exploded. They really need to inform the public that is illegal in its self and look more into the police report or, if not availible, let their readers know there is more info unavailible. This is verry vague and irresponsible reporting in my opinion.
