Anybody out there have a decent subsonic load for a 308? Shooting through a 20" Remmy 700 and Yankee can....

Can't find any good load data... if you don't have data, but the name of a good reference, that'd be great too.

    Thanks.

    Have you shot one?

Things that go click...THUMP, are as cool (or cooler) than things that go BANG...THUMP.

Besides $35+ dollars a box makes one want to find another way to feed their "habit".

I've never shot one. I asked because I didn't understand the purpose of such animal. Thanks.

Find a buddy that has one....it's pretty cool when you shoot a 308 and all you hear are the firing pin drop, a little recoil, and the thump....it's pretty cool.

Just one of those "things" that so many of us have.... "just because".

    Have a great weekend.

    vetteboy73,

Goto IMR's website and lookup the loading data for a .308 Win using Trailboss powder. From what I saw online the low end of the loading data starts about 1176 ft/sec (which depending on the temperature) would be around the speed of sound....HTH :) :twocents:

10.0 gr Trail Boss and a 180gr round nosed bullet. Make sure it's stabilizing in your barrel befoe shooting it throuh a can.

    want to revive this thread.

Specifically shooting a Hornady .308 150 GR SP (only because I have a bunch of them from their "get loaded" promotion.) Out of a KelTec RFB with 18 inch barrel, twist 1:11.25

PLUS: How am I going to know if the bullet is coming out stable enough to shoot through a can? Most of what I find online says the barrel is really designed for 168gr bullets.

I never thought about a bullet being unstable enough to collide with your surpressors. Is this a common problem?

Good luck guys. Sounds like fun!
