It's not unusual, especially if you have a decent lawyer and were already out on bond before the plea.

This piece by Glenn Greenwald is interesting. He seems to have turned a corner in recognizing that the Communists (AKA Democrats) are a totalitarian threat.
Pre-2016 I considered Greenwald as a journalist with an interest in liberty and privacy (hence the Edward Snowden work) but also VERY left of center with an almost pathological distrust of the Republican Party. (This may have been due to the association of the Snowden materials with the Patriot Act and conflating the Republican Party with the Surveillance State apparatus)
