Well It will not hurt those responsible. They will just raise taxes on those businesses.

True. It will also ring true with a subset of the citizens who will be pissed that the administration. It will either convert enough people to turn things around (less likely) or drive more sane people out of Seattle (more likely).

The big corporations are the ones that need to leave to make it change. That probably won't happen.

Meanwhile, Wisconsin State Senator gets an explanation as to what "mostly peaceful" protesting is about:

Wisconsin Protests: Statues Torn Down, State Senator Hospitalized After Chaotic Night In Madison
The term of art in this article is "chaotic." Ok then.

There is a copy of the video he took in the article but I could not get it to play, so here it is in a Twitter feed:

Bonus pic of him laid out in the bushes.

In other news, the INGO post editor is really lame, especially when handling links. grr.

Remember this? “Mostly peaceful protest” in Madison because some asshat “activist” got arrested fir being an asshat?

Sentenced to time served (so at most 4 months) for a federal charge. Still some state charges to face.

Minneapolis carjackings up, while city continues to defund...

The well-meaning but strongly misguided nice residents will continue to believe that "addressing the root causes of crime" is all that is needed, and magically crime will go down. Defunding the police and spending the money on "addressing the root causes" generally means hiring social workers and other community support specialists, but all too often that includes sending buckets full of money to "community groups" and other tangential players.

The ill-intentioned residents will take advantage of the reduced police presence and the overworked condition of remaining officers and detectives and predate the well-meaning but strongly misguided nice residents.

If they do not address the crime problem head on, and keep funding favored constituencies and organizations instead of law enforcement efforts, they will be in a race with other, like minded places to see who can achieve Detroit-level squalor and dysfunction the fastest.

Well one of the minneapolis city council members, jeremiah ellison, has tweeted "I hereby declare, officially, my support for antifa". His father keith ellison is the state attorney general and is similarly f***ed up. With people like these in those positions there is little hope for minneapolis. They are NOT well meaning but misguided.
