Good luck in your search for a handgun. lots out there. Yes get the LTCH, do the right thing and buy a couple different holsters. Dress around the gun, and if you find a training class, do one! My choice for a first read was "In the Gravest Extreme" by Massad Ayoob. You need to read it twice! He is spot on with scenarios, and experience! Met him at a Gun show, and he is okay. Some say he is arrogant, I say he knows his stuff. Lot of guys writing these days. Read a couple, and you will see like subjects addressed.
Hope you don't use it, but learn how to, and legal afterward.
    Good luck.

I just finished applying for mine, too. Now I'm just in the shopping stage, which seems to be the hardest part!
Just shoot and handle as many different calibers/types of guns you can. Find one you can shoot well, feels good in your hands, and fits your needs. Get some training and education and you'll be ahead of others.
