If you want a doctor that speaks English, you are going to have to take what you can get. Be a grown up and just tell him “no thanks” if he suggests something you don’t want.
When my long-time family doctor retired and transferred his patients to another doctor, who was from Pakistan, he tried to get me on blood pressure meds and also offered viagra. I said "NO" and quit smoking, lost some weight, and started exorcising and I've been fine. I looked around and found another doctor that I could talk to and I've been happier and I've avoided being on any meds at all.

I'm convinced that the only way to receive honest, quality health care is to forget about your health "insurance"and anyone they might approve of and go find someone working for themselves taking cash. Otherwise, your health decisions are primarily based on making someone else money with the ultimate goal of stringing you along for as long as possible to drain as much money from you as they can. Your actual health is insignificant.

    Thanks Obama

Yeah, but when the Republicans control the House, Senate, and Executive branch, they are going to repeal obammy care. I know it, because they promised it if elected.
Remember when the vote was down to a tie, and that worthless John McCain walked in and voted to keep Obama care because he was mad at the conservatives. That was the last thing he did before he died, screwed the American citizens.

    I remember many things.

I remember June 2012 when the last spark of anything resembling a remnant of the republic went dead.

It is LONG past time for the States to revoke those limited and specified powers they delegated to the central state and dissolve it.

    .
Having in recent years returned to the medical profession after a nearly 50 year absence I've been OK with my care so far. GP Doc was up front that she believed in vaccinations, but said that she was not going to wrestle with me to get me to have them. I smiled and said while that might be fun, it was a wise decision.;)

No joke. Our founding documents said "If this doesn't work for you later, abolish it!"

Curious how no politicians ever mention that...

I asked my GP of over 30 years who he suggested when he retired. Out of 6 Docs in the office he wasn't much of a fan of any of them but said if I didn't mind a Chinese guy he was the best of the lot. I tried him but on my get acquainted visit when he was going over my history it took 3 shots at "acid reflux" for me to understand what he was asking me. I didn't have a problem with the Chinese but felt communication was as important as competence so I started my search. That was 2012 and I've been through 6 Docs before finding my current NP.. As an aside my long time Doc had no issues with me being armed in the office and neither does the current NP. My pistol goes on with my pants so that was always a consideration during my search for a Doc.

I am truly blessed when it comes to my and the wife’s health care.

We have tricare for life and full VA. My experience with the VA has been outstanding. I have an entire health care team.
Primary care DR. is a D.O. He likes to reduce or get rid of meds.
Primary care RN very sweet and caring
Psychiatrist retired from the Army she is very thoughtful
Psychiatric Nurse is a NP she is awesome
Psychologist retired AF takes his time and knows his job
Dietitian she nice and gives us good advice
Social Worker She is nice I don’t need her services she is mainly for homeless and vets that need aid services.

Because of TBI I have to visit all of them every six months with a MRI. I need to use the VA because of the specific TBI treatments.
Not bragging just letting Vet’s know if you need the VA is not all bad.

I second the suggestions above about D.O. versus M.D. I highly recommend a D.O. as your primary care physician if you are looking for more holistic care and would like to see results in 'getting better' rather than just 'getting older'.

Yes, insurance makes a huge impact in your care and how your doctor navigates that. We can all thank the government for that being a driver of the business rather than actually trying to keep a patient population healthy and THRIVING. Primary Care is considered a 'loss leader' for the health system. They want you as their regular customer so that when you need a surgery or have a hospital stay you will also choose them...and that is when they make their money.

*Just be cautious and choose for yourself when they suggest tests or scans or treatments. There are pop-ups/check lists/suggested protocols on most EMR's that make suggestions on what they should have you do. These pop-up's are drivers for reporting back to the govt and will impact that health systems 'score' overall and therefore impact their reimbursement rates from the government payors.

**I'll send you a few options in case you are still looking (I'll apologize now that they aren't especially close to where you are, but they are just suggestions...take 'em or leave 'em). Best of luck in your search, you are doing so much more than most 'consumers'. Doctors meet you for a few minutes and then have to offer you some solutions but you have 'lived with you' for a lifetime...you know better how your body will react. Each medication has a host of side effects, and multiple medications will have drug interactions between them. Never stop digging and researching for your own benefit...a lot of what ails us can be fixed through our foods and/or adjusting through supplements.

    OP: Good luck with that!
If you have to go beyond a GP or Internist like an orthopedic surgeon skip Indy and go directly to Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic and leave the amateurs here behind!
I come from a Hopkins family. If one is broken and nobody local can fix you?
You go to one of your picks or John's Hopkins in Baltimore.

Like the Amish dentist where I'm from,
50 bucks per extraction is the suggested donation.
