Saw a 100ct box of these at Wallyworld the other day for about $20. Seems like a cheap and easy way to stockpile shotshells for when the SHTF. My question is, are these loads good for anything but skeet shooting, like hunting and protection? If so I will run out and get some before Walmart ceases to stock ammo.

I have used these rounds for rabbit, squirrels, and birds and they have killed everything I have hit with them. I buy 6 shot for rabbits and squirrels and 8 shot for birds. I don't know if I would buy them to use for protection but in a pinch I assume they would stop someone?? If I was going to protect myself with these rounds I would personally try to use 6 shot just for the little bigger pellets.

the 4 pack boxes are either 8 or 7.5 shot. the other than fedaral top gold, all federal shells have a paper base instead of plastic. they are not the best idea for long term storage. 12ga also have paper bases.

the remington gun clubs for a little more are a better, they are better to reload and are all plastic.

both have steel rims. so be careful of that.

Nah, get buck or slugs for defense. Smaller shot sizes just don't penetrate enough to reliably incapacitate.

Appreciate the input guys. Haven't seen the Rem gun clubs around here but you're right, all plastic would be better. I didn't make it the store, had a bad day then got pulled over so they may be gone now :( I think I'll save my money and spring for a savage 64 or mosin 91/30. Both of which are at the lgs for decent prices. Thinking I should get more guns while I can and worry about ammo later.
