I've enjoyed shooting these guns in place of my regular 1877s, smokeless loading and less wear and tear on otherwise cranky old revolvers. Single action only instead of the DA 1877, I suspect it was done this way to qualify for the CA shooting crowd. Uberti simply has a scaled frame SAA with a birds head grip, but it works pretty well. You can get larger calibers with a birds head frame, but they aren't the same size. The repros were offered in 41lc, 38 special, and 32-20/30 HR Magnum with an extra cylinder. The 38 special was always the best value as 41 LC is hard to find and even harder to load for. The 32-20/30 HR magnum is a nice gun, but noisy for it's size, sort of like the cricket in MIB. On the left are original Colts, the Gen1 SAA for size and an original 1877.
