Two go out, only one comes back, fresh meat on the smoker, feed the brains to the hogs or dogs. This extends your preps and he was going to die anyway. It might be a little creepy to see the dogs playing with the hip and leg bones in the yard but that is an individual choice. I think I would be fine with it and the bone pile sends a message to outside observers.
