I'm stocking up on coffee beans now. That's about the only thing I regularly consume that is imported (that I know of).
What other important imports might I be missing? I have plenty of chocolate and any electronics can wait.
Look forward 3-6 months (or longer). What will you need?

I have oil, filters, spark plugs, toiletries, etc. If we need it, we've bought it.

If there is no shortage, I'll at least come out ahead thanks to inflation.

I keep enough oil & filters for 4 oil changes for all cars on hand. Lots of rice, tuna, soup and other canned goods.
Maybe I should stock up on light bulbs though.

I shouldn't need tires ( Michelin, Hankook) for at least a season or three. The FJ1100 has all critical maint done and I have pare parts on hand too.

Overall I think this is a net gain situation for Trump. That is, unless of course this was all planned to set the stage for Kamala to come in and play act the hero and “resolve this crisis”, but that’s just my inner conspiracy theorist talking.
I also wondered if this is a self created crisis. Kamala can’t get credit for solving a crisis unless one has been created. Give it a week to become uncomfortable for the sheep and then magically fix it.

Man people are not that smart.

We don’t import most normal everyday foods or paper products.

Your eggs do not come from China or Europe.

Your soft drinks are not made in Russia.

Now if you were waiting on your new Lamborghini that might suck.

You're in a good spot and better than most.

What we don't know though is how the behind the scenes costs to the companies that get these "local" items into our hands effect the final pricing?

Ocean freight costs have been covid high most of the year ($10k/container). Look for that to be passed on to the consumer.

At some point be cheaper to make here.

We'll have to see about that?

If we keep letting the dems and the unions win, who knows what costs could be? Those folks would be happy to have gov't take over all business and give away goods to their voters while our taxes pay for it.

Just seen it. I'm sure there will be an interesting back story.

Maybe Soros figured the dems couldn't live through this?

The unions bosses ( the demoncrats ) told them it’s going to hurt commiemala at the polls if people are facing shortages right now heading into the holidays.
So A: wait until President Trump is back in and blame him next year.
B: if commiemala gets in it won’t matter because who cares at that point, they already have the sucker vote counted.

This was fixing to get really really bad for the unions and the dems. The hurricane damage is historic and as joe and kamala are out to lunch, ALL of the governors in hurricane effected states are screaming that there is NO room for ANY delay in shipping to their recovery!
