Can you briefly explain the 2.5khz and its use?
Narrow banding required by the fcc. The step is being reduced to 2.5 to make more room.

Congratulations!...pass the Technician test, just today in fact!
I just wanted to say thank you everyone for the helpful information in this thread. It was this thread that inspired me to study and pass the Technician test, just today in fact!
Do share.Same here. My callsign just showed up on the FCC site. Now I just have to figure out what the hell to do with it!
Regardless of why you got your license a good way to start would generally be buying a handheld (HT) transceiver I would suggest a dual band.Same here. My callsign just showed up on the FCC site. Now I just have to figure out what the hell to do with it!

As you can see, I have no trouble with my call sign being known. Why? the FCC database is public, anyone that wants to can pull a list of names and addresses at anytime and as you can see by my user name I'm not exactly anonymous anyway.
Bill B; I agree with you 100%. Also, welcome to you and CAM, to the HAM community!!! I'm not on 2M much, but if you're in the Indy area, I'm K9TLA, so give me a shout. -- Greg/Grizhicks
- Guess I'm just a little paranoid. Don't mind sharing mine at all in the HAM community. Yes, it is a public database but without relevant info it doesn't do anyone much good.
- Do you guys have your call signs on your license plates too??
