Been meaning to jump into this thread. I've been blessed with many fine 22 rifles. This is one of my favorites that I posted in the "Takedown Rifles" thread in the Long Gun section:
Winchester 1890/1906/62A
Bought this at a gunshow, knowing it wasn't all original. Obviously re-blued, etc. I didn't find out till researching, how "unique" it really was. It has parts from at least four different models. Functions perfect and is very accurate (for 22 shorts).
Buttstock is model 1890. Receiver is model 1906 made in 1915 (from the S/N). Barrel is from a 62A. And the hammer, trigger, and magazine inner tube is from a rare, nickel plated special edition.
Someone re-blued it all very nicely, and put it together as a cool little Frankenchester. I added the Marbles tang sight.
It's in 22 Shorts Only, and is one of my favorites. Has taken several short-range tree rats that were intent on gnawing my wood deck.
I've tried out too many since May of 2017 to list.
I won't list everything I've had, but this is what I have left & have a hard time parting with:
- 03-2019 - Dan Wesson 8", 54 oz, 6 rd (my favorite, nothing else compares), new front red optic (INGO/Tristan) (had a 4" DW earlier) (Never sell)
(Once in a retirement trimming mode I sold all my .22 revolvers but kept this DW)
- 05-2020 - SW 17-4, 6 rd, a true prize to shoot (INGO/Snorko)
(had a couple other SW revolvers) Always wanted a SW 617 but found this older 17 luckily.
- 07-2020 - Ruger Single-Six Hunter SS, 7" (Leopold scope) (2nd one) (Armslist)
(only 2nd single six I've ever really enjoyed) A Ruger GP 100 was my favorite 22 revolver early on.
(had many other single action revolvers brands and 3 other Ruger revolvers)
- 09-2020 - Taurus Tracker 970 SS, 6" (2nd one: 1st had 4" barrel) (Armslist)
- 05-2021 - Heritage Rough Rider 16", fiber optics (INGO/Zach) (bought $33 larger grips
(can't believe how accurate this revolver is for an inexpensive SA)
- 10-2018 - SW 41 (new internals, my most expensive) (INGO/Tristan) (never sell)
- 02-2020 - S/W22A-1 Talo edition (INGO) (never been shot when bought & another prize to own)
(I've had 4 other 22A-1)
- 07-2021 - Browning Buckmark 10" Silhouette with 4 upgrades (INGO/Zach: found it on Armslist), shoots as good as the SW 41 (had 4 other Buckmarks) (never sell)
- 09-2021 - Beretta M9-22 (INGO/Zack) w/3 mags & Hogue grips, don't know why I like this gun so much: the ultimate plinker, maybe.
(had 2 other M9-22)
- 09-2021 - SW Victory (Hoosier Topics?) w/scope, red dot, holster (plus $30 gas) (Zach/INGO found)
(had 4 other Victory pistols) This was my first semi-auto I bought early on & I keep coming back to them.
(I've had 5-6 of the Ruger Mark 3 & 4 series)
- 10-2019 - RPR bolt, (with scope (INGO/Tristan) Don't need this bolt action rifle since the CZ 455 shoots better for me, but I just really like it.
(my 2nd RPR & had other Ruger rifles)
- 09-2020 - CZ 512 semi-auto, with scope (INGO??) My best .22 at 50 yds.
- 07-2020 - Henry Pump (INGO/Bob/Rala) Don't need this rifle but it's so much fun.
- 01-2021 - CZ 455 bolt, w/scope (INGO/Bob/Rala My best .22 at 100 yds. (never sell)
(had a CZ 457 & a few Savage rifles)
And these are just the ones I kept after nearly 5 yrs. of searching through everything.Holy cow doddg! You've been a busy man these last few years.
I bet that Dan Wesson kicks like a mule huh?
I've heard the older ones are the best, & that was from an older friend who knows their history & shot them for decades in competitions.S&W 422
