I looked at the Colt Competition Pistol last July. They ran $780+/-. I didn't buy one then. I looked for them on line today and they are $880-$900+/-. That's a pretty big jump in 5 months.
I see that they now offer SS models too ($950). Is this driving the price increase for the base model?
Did Colt raise prices or is this just market forces at work? Are they likely to ever fall back in the $800 range?

I was thinking that the price of Colts had dropped a bit. I just picked up a Colt 01992 full size 9mm from Bud's last week for $646. A lot of times, the price you see them selling for is not based as much on the MSRP, but more in supply and demand for the pistols. If there's a bunch of 9mm 1911s that are not moving, a company will drop the price to push them along but if the standard .45 is selling well, they might bump the price up to reflect the popularity. I have not kept track of Colt's MSRPs for their 1911s recently, so cannot say for sure whether they've gone down, up or stayed the same.

It must be market demand that is driving price up. I have a 01992 bought in 2014 for about $680 so the price on that model is actually down a little.
