    Right. Sounds like the EOs are more funding for schools, mental health resources, and money for studies through the CDC. I'm not against it.

    The rest has been what he wants congress to do.

    Biden's little tirade at the beginning about made me sick. That didn't help the people involved...it made him look like he cares. I'm surprised he didn't drum up a little tear.

    I only heard him address 3 Exec. Orders what is the other 20? Anyone know? I read there was 23 Exec. Orders he was signing.

    I'm sure glad I don't have any "military style" weapons. Mine are all civilian style.

    Gun Violence Reduction Executive Actions
    Today, the President is announced that he and the Administration will:
    1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
    2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
    3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
    4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
    5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
    7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
    8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
    9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
    10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
    11. Nominate an ATF director.
    12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
    13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
    14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
    15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
    16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
    17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities. 18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
    19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
    20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
    21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
    22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
    23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.

    I'm encouraged that it wasn't worse, actually. Obama seems to understand that he can't take the actions he wants without Congress, which is a start, but my biggest fear is that those out-of-touch idiots will get The Chicago Treatment: intensive lobbying, arm-twisting, bribing, intimidating, and deal-making that will get the votes they need for this in exchange for some piece of legislation they want, or some pork-barrel BS that serves them and their interests instead of that of their constituents. The slow-strangle is this douche-nozzle's specialty.

    We need to do our part now:

    1. wallpaper our congressional representatives with our opinion, along with our promise of activism to remove them from office via election at the very next opportunity should they fail to vote our will;

    2. help our congressional representatives set the debate with thought leadership, not with scaredy-cat stories and false-outrage stories that are so rife around the internet today;

    3. WORK ON OUR STATE GOVERNMENT to pass laws that backstop any federal attempts to pass unconstitutional measures or take unconstitutional actions;

    4. GET ACTIVE in our opposition to gun control in WAYS THAT WILL ACTUALLY HELP;

    and 5. propose our OWN measures for controlling violence that is being used against us, like school shootings/stabbings/bombings, etc. We know that Hollywood is a major culprit in this, and yet they get a pass. We know that the gaming industry is a major culprit in this, and yet they get a pass. We know the pharmaceutical makers are a major culprit in this, and yet they get a pass. WE HAVE TO FOCUS AND EDUCATE ON THESE ROOT CAUSES OF GREEN-ON-GREEN VIOLENCE IN THIS COUNTRY!

    So for my part, my actions will start today. I manage client relationships for a major company; my talents lie in engaging people in debates and influencing their opinions, and shaping their actions. I will be aggressively applying these skills, starting today, to our local, state, and national advocacy organizations, and will do everything in my power to become a part of the debate. That includes channeling the brainpower from us on INGO -- I would propose we begin meeting in our respective areas to come up with ideas and propose methods for bringing them to bear. I will be posting this list in other places here as well, but I have to get this out here while it's still fresh in my mind.

    Yummy, yummy left over deer chili. Man, this stuff is even better two days later.

    He has no legal leg to stand on. I just don't see a AWB passing or a mag capacity ban. I think the private sales without a third party for background checks will be done, unenforceable but illegal nonetheless.

    Now, what happens when he doesn't get what he wants? I smell taxes.

    Who knows? It's all conjecture at this point. Eat deer chili, scream "MOLON LABE MFER" at the TV and get back to work.

    Yes but the majority gave up their arms willingly. I don't see Americans being that blind.

    I think you're giving the gun community too much credit. Look at how fast the gun community started to gouge one another for Pmags as soon as the prices started to rise.

    So you prefer a dictatorship as opposed to our representative republic ? :dunno:

    What? I said his executive orders weren't anything I disagree with. I don't like the guy, but the ones he discussed (1. more money to schools to hire security if they want it 2. making sure mental health facilities have the ability to report information to NICS 3. fundnig the CDC to study gun violence and what may actually have an effect) aren't bad. The CDC is a much better candidate to study the effects unbiasedly than the ATF or other alphabet org. He didn't try to legislate from his desk, and he openly said the "important measures" must be passed by congress. This eases some fears he'll try something major in the EOs. At least until more information is presented.

    There is enough to hate about the guy that we don't need to hate him for things that aren't a big deal.

    6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.

    As in, should the private seller choose to do so? Or, WHEN Congress passes a law saying they are required to?

    More an "IF" IMO. The battle is gonna be uphill, so I don't see this as a firm "This will / won't happen" but a "This is what we're aiming to do"

    I see he brought some lil' human shields, just like his homie Saddam. Nice touch...

    I've been to DPRK on different occasions. Kids get to see this photo of their Dear Leaders on the way into EVERY school and public square. Dictatorial propaganda at its finest.
