Textbook straw man, phylo - arguing a point I'm not makingI haven’t seen anyone advocate for smoking a fatty and driving a car. If we’re going to use that sort of ******** thinking we’d better start writing checks to Mom’s Demand Action so we can ban guns so no one will get murdered with one.
I’m starting to think that some might benefit from smoking a joint. Might slow down the frothy mouthed gnashing of teeth long enough for some logic to sneak in.
RationalismThere was mention of freedom coming with responsibility and I agree. Is there a word for when people don’twant to let others experience[expect the decadent to exhibit] the responsibility so they deny the freedom?
Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Whatever that pursuit might consist of, if it doesn’t cause anyone else harm then it is most certainly supposed to be a right.Textbook straw man, phylo - arguing a point I'm not making
I'm answering your desire for facts as well as your unsubstantiated assertion that there are no ill effects to legalization. I don't think anyone is arguing you should drink and drive, get lifted and drive or both. The cold hard facts are that it WILL happen and that innocent people will be hurt. The data shows unequivocally that it will happen more often in a permissive environment.
The 2A elide is a red herring, there is no constitutional right to intoxicants (except maybe alcohol, if you choose to interpret the 21st that way)
No, it isn't. I'm doing what conservatives used to do, which is be cautious about making changes to society that have no clear outcome, can have bad results, and are difficult to undo. But if you can't refute the arguments fall back on 'Why do you hate freedom' Worked for the Patriot Act, yes?Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Whatever that pursuit might consist of, if it doesn’t cause anyone else harm then it is most certainly supposed to be a right. [What of enumerated powers, why do you want FedGov to legalize it? Shouldn't you look to your individual state for that?]
You’re using the same ******** justification to push your beliefs onto others that the anti gunners use against us.
You don’t have to like cannabis. You certainly don’t have to agree with me. You should at least be honest with yourself about your desire to control others and force your beliefs onto them or punish their refusal.
It is what it is.
Why is any of what I do on my property any of your business when it has nothing to do with you and no affect on you?No, it isn't. I'm doing what conservatives used to do, which is be cautious about making changes to society that have no clear outcome, can have bad results, and are difficult to undo. But if you can't refute the arguments fall back on 'Why do you hate freedom' Worked for the Patriot Act, yes?
What we are 'conserving' from people who wish to fix what isn't broke is quite often the status quo. It is already illegal, I'm just arguing to keep it that way
I'll ask again, why is legalization more important than decriminalization? Why is acceptance more important than allowance
This cracks me up!You've been smoking today haven't you?
Actually it is and you’re talking about decisions which are none of your ****ing business.Freedom! isn't a very good argument for ******** decisions, either
Let's hop in the time machine, before it was illegal, and argue to keep it that way......It is already illegal, I'm just arguing to keep it that way...
"Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose." -- Kris Kristofferson“Freedom is a responsibility to be earned, not a license for recklessness and anarchy. If someday, despite our strongest efforts and our deepest determination, we finally fall, let it be because our enemies finally beat us, not because we beat ourselves.”

Politics is downstream from culture. A lot of people who formerly thought like you do have changed their minds as they’ve seen the folly of the drug war.You think weed should be legalized, and have every right to hold that opinion
I don't think it should be legalized, and have every right to hold that opinion
Attempts to shame me or call into question my patriotism are just not going to work, so perhaps we should just leave it at that
It wasn’t made illegal federally by the MJ tax act. It was federally regulated and taxed in 1937. Interestingly that law was repealed in 1969. It was made illegal by the controlled substances act in 1970.A fairly large number of individual states made it illegal between 1918 and 1937 (either 19 or 29, can't remember) then it was made de facto illegal nationwide by some sort of tax act in 1937
I agree with the second stupid thing, but again, it being a plant has nothing to do with why people oppose it. It’s maybe a catchy sound bite but doesn’t have any argumentative value beyond a sound bite.I don’t favor legalization because it would be a net benefit to public safety. I favor it because in this country, we should have a choice when it comes to what we do or don’t put into our bodies. You can either be in favor of that freedom or against it.
Pointing out how ****ing stupid it is to criminalize a plant and how ****ing stupid it is to keep spending billions on worthless attempts to eradicate it are simply icing on the cake.
