Oh yeah I know about that…now maybe they’re actually going to make them instead of saying “coming soon!”They announced that under Dan Wesson but I don't know if any have ever shipped.

I'd be willing to sell a few guns to but a DWX. They look amazing and I imagine they will shoot amazing also. One of the guys at Dan Wesson posts occasionally on the 1911 forum their factory got hammered by Covid apparently. Still no updates on the DWX at all.
I agree, the guns of the last 4-5 years have been pretty nice, i've bought several. They seemed to have finally after years responded to what the market wanted in a 1911, the series 80 stuff is pretty much gone now too. For the longest time they would come out with half-hearted updates like Glock and call it good. What i'm hoping to get from DW is some refining in the machining, better slide and frame fit, decent beavertails etc.I really like Colt 1911s as of around 2016/17 they have seemed to have upped the civilian offerings. I have however been pessimistic in the past on how they went in and out of bankruptcy several times.
I really hope they succeed and hopefully CZ told the Colt management they kept to sit in the corner and don't touch anything
I feel the quality on the new Colt 1911's are up there. Have handled several and fit, finnish is really good I own a competition I got new in 2017 that has ran great. I'll buy another oneNext time I have some spare change I was thinking of getting a Gold cup National Match. Anyone have any thoughts of there quality for newly manufactured pistols? I know some DWs are probably better but I have never owned a higher end Colt and I just want one just because.
Seems like the days of being able to buy the same gun with the same parts that Colt sells to the military is over. Generic lowers, cost-cutting, laser engraving instead of roll marks, proof marks gone away because they're not in-house Colt parts anymore. Some of this is pedant collector stuff but it's all further indication that Colt is selling unremarkable parts rifles with none of the Colt pedigree that used to draw buyers.
I don't know if this means they're bad, but you might as well buy any other reputable AR as a base for your clone build.
Chris is pretty much the scholar of the black rifle on Youtube. I can't recite his entire resume off the top of my head, but he's ridiculously qualified to speak on the subject. His channel has really great information and discussion. This is a great video. I've wondered what the differences were between what people refer to as the new or old 6920s. Per this guys definition, mine is the older LE6920, with the difference being mine was an MOE model that came with FDE furniture. I got mine new in '12 when Walmart still had a little backbone left. My front post has the F and the lower is marked M4 CARBINE. Instead of all the 13629 markings he mentions though, mine has the C stamped in the upper, barrel and bolt carrier. Whats the diff between those 2 markings?
Interesting and very confusing. LolChris is pretty much the scholar of the black rifle on Youtube. I can't recite his entire resume off the top of my head, but he's ridiculously qualified to speak on the subject. His channel has really great information and discussion.
Colt proof marks and roll marks is a deep rabbit hole that I am not fully educated on. 13629 is Colt's Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) code, I think that's a marking change dictated by some defense logistics...thing. I bought my 6920 in early 2019, it has 13629 on the barrel but more typical C stamps on the upper and bolt carrier and MPI on the bolt. Still says M4 Carbine and has an LE prefix serial. Other people report 13629 on their uppers and other random parts. Just...Colt things.

The problem for Colt being that nowadays there's so much competition in the market that ponies and roll marks for the GWOT cloners are really their only market niche. The 'older' Colts weren't drawing buyers either. When the 'old' Colts were being made everybody said don't buy those you need a minimum of LWRC, Noveske, BCM, Knight, etc etc as they were priced sort of in between the cheap ones and the high dollar and that market fell out. Now they make a lower priced one (pandemic aside) and now people complain they aren't the 'old' Colt's anymore.
Yeah, 'mid-priced' AR's haven't sold in awhile (pre-pandemic before anything and everything sold), the best option is to either up the game and try to break into the higher end market or price them more in line with the other budget brands but hovering out there like they are at 950-1200 isn't going to work. The problem for Colt being that nowadays there's so much competition in the market that ponies and roll marks for the GWOT cloners are really their only market niche.
