Looking for a nice leather cartridge belt and holster for my .357 New Vaquero.

Was wondering if my only options are going through the various online dealers and paying 500 dollars or if there might be someone in state who makes decent stuff. Trying it on first would be preferable.

I was thinking maybe one of those boot and hat places you see when you take long road trips.

    Any insights welcome, thanks.

I went with Galco's 1880's belt and holsters. It works pretty well for me, and they stay open! Holsters retail for $82.00 each, or $89.00 for crossdraw. The belt is $124.00.

It's really all in what you prefer. For CTN, he was looking for something more personalized. The Galco rig looks pretty quality from what I can see, nothing wrong with that.

CTN went with what I did because he'd seen some other work I'd done, some western, some for modern 9mm's, .380's, .45acps.

It ain't my "day job" that's for sure, I do it because I enjoy working with my hands as much as working with my mind, but the mind work pays the bills.

It's also introducing my child to leather working, which is a total bonus in my mind.

I started with a cheap Triple K rig from Cabelas. Last year at the Indiana State Cowboy shoot I won a rig from Black Hills Leather, I got to choose which rig I got. I went with the Black Hills Bandito rig. Rudy does an awesome job! I love my new rig, it's fast too. A couple of years ago I bought a shotgun belt from Murphys Leather made how I wanted it. It also is top quality.
