I believe it’s more than the way the team arrived…the whole “small market” thing has been around forever. I remember when the Pacers were close to or winning the central division (when I could stand watching basketball). The announcers seemingly always were openly rooting for the Celtics, knicks, sixers or any other “major market” team to beat them so the championship would be LA vs NY or Boston. Same general situation today.
